As a Training Level Event rider desiring to move up to Preliminary, I have been training with Clarissa for the last 3 years. I am thrilled with the results.
I have experienced subtle changes in my technique, both on the flat and over fences. I ride with more confidence, independence and better technical knowledge because of Clarissa's ability to analyze areas for improvement, use specific tailored exercises to make corrections, and then package it together in a way that works best with my horse.
Clarissa Wilmerding trains horses and riders at all levels and in all disciplines. Her varied experience will help to identify and solve troublesome issues of both horse and rider and will help to improve the performance of both. She is able to school a difficult horse or one that is ready to move to the next level. Clarissa encourages participation at all riding levels and her primary goal is to have her students walk away from a lesson with increased confidence in themselves and a better understanding of their horse.
Clarissa operates her training and lesson business out of a 120 acre farm in Califon, New Jersey. The facility includes an outdoor and an indoor arena and a beginner-novice through preliminary cross-country course and adjoins space for hacking and gallops. Area II events and jumper shows are within reasonable distances, while the farm is also adjacent to the Essex Fox hounds hunt country.
